Face to Face: JR

Street artist JR, who turns the streets into public galleries for his oversized portraits of residents, receives  2011 TED Prize. He got he start on the streets of Paris, throwing-up large-scale portraits of residents from the notorious banlieues, projects on the peripheries of the city, in the wealthier “bourgeois” neighborhoods of Paris. From there he has taken his work on the road in the Middle East, African, and Brazil. Check out the video/interview on TED‘s website.
