Please-Give-Us-Peace Prize

President+Barack+Obama+Makes+Key+Speech+Cairo+-nYl-0Q1DjMlPresident Barack Obama has just found himself in some high company. Albert Schweitzer, Martin Luther King Jr., Desmond Tutu, and Mother Theresa all came to breakfast.

This morning it was announced that the 44th US President was going to be the 119th recipent of the Nobel Peace Prize.

There are other American Presidents who have received this honor before him: Theadore Roosevelt (1906), Woodrow Wilson (1919); founded the League of Nations, and Jimmy Carter (2002)

There are also fifty or so other recipients whose names or actions most of us don’t recognize or remember. Still, the Nobel Peace Prize means something our public, and it seems that there is one sentiment we can all agree on. “Why Barack?”

Maybe we are too critical of him. I mean, if you compare Barack Obama’s accomplishments to your own, I bet his life choices his have helped out a lot more people than you can claim credit to. So, I sort of get the impression that that is why he was awarded this years highest philanthropic honor. “Thank you, Mr. Obama, for being better than the Average Joe, while being President of the most powerful country in the world.”

I am grateful he’s around, relieved that he is in charge s-OBAMA-large instead of myself or some Make-Me-A-Texan egoist, so I’m not going to be overly critical of his newest trophy. This prize is an international plea for help. Just in case Obama wasn’t feelin the heat. Now that we’ve kicked it up a notch I hope we see some revolutionary peacemaking up in here. Save us Obama! Save us from everything! Peace on Earth, and nothing less!

No pressure Sir. Just…make sure you don’t disappoint your planet of adoring fans.
